Tips to Increase the Lifespan of Your Clothing
Laitala K. and Klepp I.G. who work for the National Institute for Consumer Research conducted a study on the average lifespan of clothing. The researchers found that, on average, the clothing that was no longer being used had been used for a life span of around 5.4 years. Increasing the amount of time you wear an item of clothing saves you money, and helps the environment. Here are some ideas for how to make your clothing last longer.
Instead of buying multiple lower quality pieces of clothing buy 1 high quality item that will last longer
Carry around a stain-removal pen
Wash your jeans (and other outer clothing that becomes dirty at a slower rate) less often
Pay attention to the washing instructions given on the tag of the clothing item
Learn how to hand-sew or use a sewing machine
